The Skill Mill Rochdale has partnered with Cartwheel Arts and are working on a community project in Darnhill estate, Heywood. The project is being funded by Community Safety Partnership Funding.
Cartwheel Arts promotes social inclusion, cohesion, diversity and regeneration through community participation in vibrant, innovative, high-quality arts projects. Cartwheel has over 35 years experience of promoting imaginative, and often challenging arts projects, their focus is on participation, enabling people who may have had little experience of the arts to explore and develop their creativity and talents, generating a sense of ownership and pride.
The Skill Mill is a multi-award-winning social enterprise which provides employment opportunities for young people aged between sixteen and eighteen. We employ only ex-offenders, actively reducing reoffending whilst increasing engagement, participation, employability and educational levels of the young people to increase their life chances.
The Skill Mill will be carrying out environmental improvements for Cartwheel Arts, such as:
- Planting and pruning
- Community clearance works
- Painting and refurbishing
