The Royal Horticultural Society
Our young people at The Skill Mill Surrey have taken part in some training sessions with The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) at their Wisely Gardens - one of the world’s great gardens, packed with horticultural inspiration. The team learnt about soil preparation, garden tools, and growing plants. Thank you to RHS for the brilliant session.
Flood Prevention Works
One of The Skill Mill's main aims is to improve the flow of watercourses contributing to the reduction of flood risk and provide urban and rural environmental improvement services. The Skill Mill Surrey have been doing just that over the past few weeks! Fantastic to see our young people enjoying their tasks. The team are looking forward to continuing flood prevention works over the coming months.

Working Together for Woking Event
The Skill Mill Surrey attended the Working Together for Woking event at Woking Leisure Centre.
Over 50 charities and community organisations came together to find out more about each other, and how we can all work together to support residents of Woking. The event was hosted by Volunteer Woking, who aim to deliver a healthy local voluntary sector for the community.
Saw Mill Training Centre
Each cohort receives six months paid employment, invaluable practical real work experience, a nationally recognised qualification, and further opportunities for progression with local companies at the end of their time with The Skill Mill. The team in Surrey have been enjoying some time at the Saw Mill Training Centre!
Norbury Park: Beekeeping
Our young people have been working in Norbury Park. They've made a great job of pruning, edging footpaths and clearing litter. Whilst they've been there, a local beekeeper gave the team an introduction to beekeeping! We'd like to say a special thanks to the beekeeper for such an interesting chat.

This week we used a team from The Skill Mill on one of our projects. The team was run by Ross Carter.
