The Skill Mill is working in partnership with Urban Green Newcastle. Urban Green Newcastle is an independent charity responsible for the management and upkeep of the city’s 33 parks and 61 allotment sites. The Skill Mill is a multi-award-winning social enterprise which provides employment and training opportunities for young people.
We currently have a small number of paid employment opportunities for young people to join our team. The in-the-field activity has been co-designed by The Skill Mill and Urban Green senior rangers. It will comprise a variety of entry-level employment tasks including clearing vegetation, repainting and simple repairs on public realm furniture, edging footpaths, flower-bed maintenance and clearing water courses. It will take place across a number of sites owned and managed by Urban Green. Employees will also have the opportunity to achieve an AQA award, create a CV, and gain valuable real work experience. There is no experience necessary and all kit and PPE is provided.
