Job Title: Skill Mill Supervisor 
Location: Hereford

Contract: 1-year fixed term
Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 (fixed term contract)
Reporting to: Operational Manager
Start date: Immediate  

About The Skill Mill 

The Skill Mill is a social enterprise that provides employment opportunities for young people with criminal convictions. Through paid work in environmental projects, horticulture and grounds maintenance, we help young people develop skills, confidence and positive futures while creating benefits for local communities and the environment. 

The Role 

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people.

 

As a Skill Mill Supervisor, you will work directly alongside a team of young people, supporting them to gain practical skills, build confidence, develop a positive work ethic and move towards sustainable education, training and employment.

 

You will create a safe, supportive environment where young people can succeed, learn from challenges and realise their potential.

 

What You'll Do

Support Young People To:

  • Develop new skills, confidence and resilience.

  • Build positive relationships and workplace behaviours.

  • Identify and achieve personal goals.

  • Explore pathways into training, employment and further opportunities.

  • Overcome barriers that may be preventing them from progressing.

Lead Environmental Projects Including:

  • Landscaping and fencing.

  • Grounds and habitat maintenance.

  • Flood prevention and watercourse work.

  • Environmental improvement projects.

  • Construction and maintenance tasks for local partners.

 

You will work alongside the young people every day, ensuring projects are completed safely and to a high standard.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who believes in the potential of young people and can help them take positive steps forward.

 

You'll have:

  • Experience working directly with young people facing challenges or disadvantage.

  • The ability to build trusted, positive relationships.

  • Experience in environmental, horticultural, construction or related practical work.

  • A good understanding of health and safety.

  • Strong communication and partnership-working skills.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Enhanced DBS check required.
