If you are living in or visiting the UK by 20th September 2024, we invite you to join World Cleanup Day for a Cleaner Planet!
What's World Cleanup Day?
World Cleanup Day (WCD) is the largest civic movement of our time. It has brought together millions of people for the biggest waste collection day in human history.
Since 2018, a total of 211 countries and territories, including 95% of UN member states, have engaged 91 million participants, equating to 1.13% of the global population, removing 543,704 tons of mismanaged waste from our environment.
WCD aims to activate 5% of the world's population and catalyse lasting societal change in behaviour around mismanaged waste.
From 2024 onwards, WCD has been added to the official United Nations Calendar of International Days & Weeks. This presents even greater opportunities to bring citizens, governments, and organisations together to tackle the global mismanaged waste crisis and help create a new, more sustainable and waste-free world.
The Skill Mill - an award-winning social enterprise providing employment for young ex-offenders in environmental services - is again leading the event throughout the UK in 2024. Everyone is welcome to organise a clean-up and to donate to The Skill Mill to support our year-round clean-up efforts. We offer several options for both individuals and corporate partners to get involved:
